Questions about Kneehab XP®

What should Kneehab XP feel like when operating?
When you switch Kneehab XP® on and gradually increase the intensity, you will feel a mild, comfortable “tingling” or “buzzing” sensation in your quadriceps muscles. As you increase the intensity, the muscles will begin to contract.

How can Kneehab XP help rehabilitate the knee?
The quadriceps muscles are the most important stabilizer of the knee. After knee injuries or knee surgery, pain and swelling often cause disuse, which leads to muscle wastage. An essential component of rehabilitation after knee injury is strengthening of the quadriceps muscles. Kneehab XP works by re-educating and strengthening the quadriceps muscles through cycles of contraction and relaxation. Kneehab XP is a highly effective, yet simple and convenient way to rehabilitate quadriceps atrophy after injury or surgery.

Can Kneehab XP be used in conjunction with other forms of therapy?
Kneehab XP can be used as an adjunct to most forms of therapy for knee injuries but as with all powered muscle stimulators it should not be used on patients with cardiac demand pacemakers / defibrillators.

Can Kneehab XP be utilized on both Knees?
Yes. Kneehab XP comes with a right or left garment as requested. A second garment for the opposing knee can be purchased if required.

How often should I replace the conductive gel pads?
As a general rule, with daily application and covering the gel pads after each use, the conductive gel pads should last at least 4 weeks. If usage is less than this, replacement should be less frequent.

Can I exercise while wearing the Kneehab XP?
Yes, provided exercise is initially supervised and performed as directed by your health care provider. The exercises should be performed while sitting or lying down. Examples of such exercises include knee extensions and straight leg raises. If you need to walk around during a treatment session, press the On/Off (Pause) button briefly, to pause the treatment.

How often should I use Kneehab XP?
Your clinician will advise you on time usage as part of your overall rehabilitation program.

What should I do if treatment becomes uncomfortable?
Effective treatment should not cause undue discomfort. If treatment becomes painful, try lowering the intensity level slightly, then gradually build back up to previous level.

Can Kneehab XP be used on other body parts?
Neurotech strongly recommends that Kneehab XP only be used as directed in the User Manual and not applied to any other body parts.
