Questions about skin care and skin conditions:
I have a rash, can I use the device? Avoid applying over recent scars or on broken or inflamed skin, areas of infection, susceptibility to acne, thrombosis or other vascular problems (e.g. broken veins or varicose veins).
I think the unit gave me a burn, what should I do? Please contact your providing clinician if any irritation, skin reaction, hypersensitivity or other adverse reaction is experienced - discontinue use in the meantime. Using an alternative conductive gel pad placement or conductive medium can usually reduce irritation. Note, however, that a slight reddening of the skin is quite normal under the conductive gel pads during and for a short time after treatment.
I think I am allergic to the electrodes. How do I know for sure? A small number of isolated skin reactions, including allergies and acne, have been reported in association with NMES devices. Consult with your doctor.
I am bruising under my electrodes, what should I do? Consult with your doctor.
Do the electrodes have latex? Neurotech gel pads are latex-free. Make sure to only use CE approved, BMR-authorized biocompatible conductive gel pads.
